Orissa Cement Technical Seminar for Architects & Engineers, Bhuvaneshwar


Orissa Cement Ltd., Bhuvaneshwar, organised a technical seminar for architects and engineers on 13 March 2015. 

Dr. J D Bapat was invited as the guest speaker and gave a presentation on “Strong and Durable Concrete with Slag Cement” and also highlighted the advantages of OCL Konark and OCL Dhalai Special Premium (DSP) Brand Cement

 

The architects and engineers from the following organizations were invited:

•        Leading Architects and Engineers from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Dhenkanal

•        Govt. Department Like NHAI, PWD, BDA, CPWD, Bridge & Roof, RITES,IDCO

•        Professors of Civil Engg. Department from KIIT , OEC and RIT Engineering Colleges

•        Third party testing labs like S M Consultant , Quality control of PWD, Alcove Consultancy

•        Pioneer Construction companies of India like L&T B&F IC, HSCL, OPTCL,PGCIL, OCC LTD, Shapoorji Pallonji ,OSDMA, RVNL, Leighton, NPCC, NBCC & OWSSB etc.

 

Dr Bapat covered the following aspects of Portland Slag Cement (PSC) in his presentation:

 

·               Vital statistics on blended cement

·               Chemical and physical requirement as per IS 455

·               Strength and durability of concrete due to PSC chemical effect

·               Strength and durability of concrete due to PSC physico-chemical effect

·               Reasons for high performance of Konark and DSP brand cement produced by OCL

·               Resistance of PSC concrete to reinforcement corrosion, sulphate attack, carbonation and alkali aggregate reaction

·               Comparison of blast furnace slag and fly ash

·               Importance of concrete curing

 

The presence of around 100 participants in the seminar showed a good sign with regard to OCL relationship with the Technocrats. The participants actively participated in the Q/A session, which followed Dr Bapat’s presentation. As per the reports, the presentation was highly appreciated by the technocrats and on the long run it is hoped, the seminar created good image about the Company as well as the products.
